Design is the planning, and the refinement of an item or art piece. Along with that it’s the thought about its function and the desired aesthetic of the item and what you want it to convey. The design of something can determine whether it lasts or breaks, or if it leaves an impression or is forgotten. Design is crucial to how art is interpreted and seen. Bad design can make something seem disjointed or awkward while good design can make something feel unified. And if an artist, crafter, or maker keeps the rules of design in mind he or she can then break them or follow them to create a specific reaction to their piece.
